Astragalus
Astragalus (huang qi) has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2,000 years and is one of the 50 fundamental herbs in Chinese pharmacopoeia. It appears in the Divine Farmer's Classic of Materia Medica as a superior tonic. In China it is often added to soups with chicken to build 'wei qi' — the protective life force energy. Modern research has validated its use with studies showing profound effects on the immune system.
