Holy Basil (Tulsi)
Called 'The Queen of Herbs' in Ayurveda, tulsi has been worshipped in India for over 5,000 years. Hindu scriptures describe it as a manifestation of the goddess Lakshmi. Nearly every Hindu household grows tulsi in a sacred clay pot. The plant is central to morning worship rituals and is considered so sacred that oaths in Indian courts were once sworn on tulsi leaves rather than the Bible.
