Kupilu (Nux Vomica) (Strychnos nux-vomica) is a herb used in the Ayurveda tradition to help with Digestive Issues, Constipation, Nerve Support, and Arthritis. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, taken internally.

Botanical background

Strychnos nux-vomica, the strychnine tree, also known as nux vomica, poison nut, semen strychnos, and quaker buttons, is a deciduous tree native to India, and southeast Asia. It is a medium-sized tree in the family Loganiaceae that grows in open habitats. Its leaves are ovate and 2–3.5 inches (5.1–8.9 cm) in size.

  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Kupilu (Nux Vomica) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

  • Pack dried Kupilu (Nux Vomica) into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
