Rosemary

Ancient Greeks believed rosemary strengthened memory — students wore garlands of it during exams. It was burned in sick rooms as a disinfectant and strewn across courtroom floors in England to protect against jail fever. In the 14th century, Queen Isabella of Hungary attributed her miraculous recovery from gout and rheumatism to 'Hungary Water,' a rosemary-based tonic. It was used in wedding ceremonies as a symbol of loyalty and remembrance.
