Tar Bush (Eremophila) (Eremophila deserti) is a herb used in the Aboriginal Australian Medicine tradition to help with Wound Healing, Fever, Skin Health, and Respiratory Issues. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, used both internally and topically.

Botanical background

Eremophila deserti is a shrub which is endemic to Australia. Common names for this species include turkey bush, dogwood, poison bush Ellangowan poison bush, pencil bush and carrot bush. It is common and widespread in all mainland states, although not the Northern Territory. Some forms are poisonous to stock.

1–3 cups daily
  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Tar Bush (Eremophila) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
