Epsom Salt Baths
A warm soak with magnesium sulfate salts to ease muscle tension and support relaxation.
About this practice
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) dissolved in a warm bath is a long-standing home remedy for sore muscles and relaxation. While the amount of magnesium actually absorbed through skin is debated, the combination of warm water immersion and a quiet, dedicated soak has genuine relaxation and mild pain-relief value on its own.
How to do it
- Fill a bathtub with comfortably warm (not scalding) water.
- Add roughly 1-2 cups of Epsom salt and stir to help it dissolve.
- Soak for 15-20 minutes, keeping the areas of tension or soreness submerged.
- Follow with gentle stretching while muscles are still warm and relaxed.
- Rinse off and rehydrate with a glass of water afterward.
