Ingredients

  • Rose water — 120ml
  • Distilled water — 60ml
  • Emulsifying wax (e-wax) — 20g
  • Shea butter — 30g
  • Rose hip oil — 20ml
  • Jojoba oil — 15ml
  • Rose geranium essential oil — 10 drops
  • Preservative (Germaben II or Leucidal) — 2g

Instructions

  1. Combine rose water and distilled water in a heatproof beaker (water phase).
  2. Combine emulsifying wax, shea butter in a separate beaker (oil phase).
  3. Heat both phases separately to 70–75°C.
  4. Pour water phase into oil phase while stirring continuously.
  5. Use a stick blender to homogenise until creamy.
  6. Cool to 40°C while continuing to stir.
  7. Add rose hip oil, jojoba oil, essential oil, and preservative below 40°C.
  8. Pour into sanitised pump bottles.

Notes

A preservative is essential for any water-containing lotion to prevent bacterial and mould growth.
